JP WF Chocolate Chip Cookies

JP World Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies

I love to make chocolate chip cookies and have made them all over the world.  I am often asked for my recipe so I thought I would share it here.  I don’t always measure my ingredients so the cookies come out a little different every time.  Enjoy!

Dry Ingredients

2 1/4 cups (532 gm) all-purpose flour (substitute 1 cup of whole wheat if you like)

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt (I use a pinch)

Wet Ingredients

1 cup butter (240 gm), softened (Substitute vegetable oil or coconut oil)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract (I just pour a little – an estimation)

2 large eggs (farm fresh are best)

2 cups of crumbled/shaved dark chocolate – or dark (semi sweet – Nestle original recipe) chocolate chips – our favorite is Whittakers Dark Chocolate with Almonds. Yum

Preheat oven to 375oF (190oC)

In a large bowl mix all the dry ingredients.  In another bowl mix the wet ingredients – you might have to soften the butter first – but don’t melt it all the way.  Combine the dry and wet ingredients – mix just until a nice smooth batter is formed – don’t over mix. Add the chocolate and mix. If you really want to you can add nuts at this point – walnuts or almonds are fantastic. (I prefer my cookies without nuts).

Spoon out small balls of dough onto a nonstick cookie sheet (A small size ice cream scooper works well)– I like to use wax or baking paper or a silicon liner to reduce the mess.  Lick the bowl and spoon when done.

Bake for 7-9 minutes until golden brown – a little longer will be crispy – shorter for soft and chewy.

Remove cookies from baking sheet onto a cooling rack – eat immediately for yummy hot out of the oven cookies or cool and eat later.   If re using the cookie sheet, let it cool completely before reloading with cookie dough.

If you make JP WF CC cookies please share a picture in the comments and let me know how they came out!  Happy Baking!
